Liverpool and Tottenham have joined the race to sign Chelsea target Youssoufa Moukoko

According to journalist Ben Jacobs of CBS Sports (h/t Football.London), Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur have joined the race to sign Borussia Dortmund striker and Chelsea target Youssoufa Moukoko.

Moukoko, who was part of the German national team squad that bowed out of the World Cup in the first possible hurdle, hardly played football in Qatar.

The 18-year-old has been linked with Chelsea for quite some time, with the report saying that the Blues are leading the race to sign him.

Moukoko is a young product of Dortmund who had an excellent run in the senior team in the first half of this season. The striker has done scoring and assisting of goals, showing off his vast attacking potential.

The German international, whose contract at Signal Iduna Park expires in the summer with no sight of an extension (Transfermarkt), scored six goals and assisted four in 14 league games so far this season.

The youngster possesses good pace to trouble the last line of defenders. He is clever in finding space in the box, can drop deep to link up play and loves a good shot on goal.

After the nasty injury to Armando Broja that is set to keep him out for the rest of this season, Chelsea are slightly short on options in the number nine position. Only Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Kai Havertz remain viable options, with the former only the actual option for that position.

The issue is that not only are the options are limited, but they also haven’t been in great form. So, we would be right to sign a striker in the next month.

With Moukoko’s current situation at Dortmund, he might be available for less money. The quality of the player is such that he would be worth any penny spent on him. The scary part for others is that he is only 18 and has time and room to further improve.
