Marina Granovskaia sent a message to Chelsea target Leonardo Spinazzola after injury
According to Sky Sport Italia journalist Angelo Mangiante on Twitter, Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia contacted AS Roma and Italy full-back Leonardo Spinazzola after his serious injury during the UEFA Euro 2020.
The 28-year-old Spinazzola was enjoying a dream campaign at the UEFA Euro 2020. The Roma left-back was one of Roberto Mancini’s best players in the tournament so far, with his trademark marauding runs on the left flank being a major feature in the Azzurri’s gameplay.
However, Spinazzola’s tournament was cut short prematurely after he picked up an injury in the quarter-final tie against Belgium.
The Italy international had to be stretchered off the field, indicating that the injury was a serious one. And, it has now been confirmed that the left-back has broken his Achilles Tendon, ruling him out of action for six to seven months.
Following the unfortunate incident, it is now being claimed that Chelsea’s transfer chief, Marina Granovskaia has sent a message to the Italian international, given as he had emerged as a transfer target for the club in the recent weeks. (h/t Angelo Mangiante)
Indeed, Italian publication Il Messaggero (h/t Mirror) reported earlier this week that Chelsea had shown an interest in Spinazzola, along with Real Madrid, amid uncertainties over the futures of both Marcos Alonso and Emerson Palmieri.

However, the serious nature of the injury and the duration that he has now been sidelined for, means that Chelsea are likely to end their interest in Spinazzola. Nonetheless, it was a classy touch from Granovskaia to get in touch with the Roma star and wish him well. ASBTF also wishes the Italy international a speedy recovery!
