Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich decides not to sell N’Golo Kante
Speaking on Tifo Podcast (h/t Football.london), The Athletic’s David Ornstein has claimed that Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has decided not to sell midfield star N’Golo Kante this summer.
The 29-year-old Frenchman has been with Chelsea for a little over four years now, having joined from Leicester City in 2016. And during his time at the club, the diminutive midfielder has grown into an integral member of the team.
Even though injuries ate into his game time last season, Kante remains a key member of the side. He has started all of Chelsea’s league games this season.
However, there have been speculations that the West London outfit might consider selling the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner in order to fund a move for Declan Rice.
Amidst this, there has been some degree of interest in Kante’s services from our Premier League rivals Chelsea as well as Antonio Conte’s Inter Milan. (h/t The Sun)
But now, Ornstein has claimed that Abramovich is an admirer of the Frenchman and will not sanction a sale this summer. (h/t Football.london)
“Frank Lampard has spoken glowingly about how important he is to his squad. And, to my understanding, Roman Abramovich loves N’Golo Kante and when he loves a player, he doesn’t want to let them go.”

Kante had his hardships last season due to injury issues. But when fit and available, he is an indispensable member of the team. So, in spite of all the speculations, his future at the club was never in question.
The Frenchman’s presence in midfield will be key to extracting the best out of the attacking midfielders like Kai Havertz and Mason Mount.
