Carlo Ancelotti refuses to give anything away in Everton’s pursuit of Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomori
According to The Evening Standard, Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti has responded to questions regarding a loan move for Chelsea starlet Fikayo Tomori.
The 22-year-old enjoyed a good run out in the first half of last season. His performances even saw him earn a call-up to the England squad. However, injuries coupled with a loss in form saw him fall down the pecking order.
With Brazilian veteran Thiago Silva now at the club, Tomori will have to face even more competition for game time this season.
This has seen him get linked with a loan move away from Stamford Bridge. Everton now managed by former Blues boss Ancelotti is one such team.
The Toffees boss however refused to give anything away regarding the Chelsea defender.
When asked about their interest, the Italian refused to open up and stated that he will not comment on a player who isn’t already at Everton.
“I am not talking about players that are not here.”
The Merseysiders are in dire need of central defenders. Wirth Mason Holgate and Jarrad Branthwaite now injured, Michael Keane and Yerry Mina as Everton’s only fit senior central defenders.
This has prompted Ancelotti to search for another center-back this summer.
Everton are not the only club keen on Tomori. Ligue 1 side Rennes are also keen on the defender and have sought to have him included in the Edouard Mendy transfer deal. (h/t The Express)

Tomori is a proven player in the Premier League and could do with regular game time. Staying at Chelsea is unlikely to see him feature often and that could affect his development.
So far, Everton have failed to make a push to land Tomori. Whether their injury crisis will now force their hand remains to be seen.
