“Everybody starts from zero” – Chelsea star sends warning to Liverpool ahead of weekend showdown

Kurt Zouma fires Timo Werner warning to Liverpool

According to The Express, Chelsea star Kurt Zouma has sent a warning to defending champions Liverpool ahead of the crunch clash at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues finished a massive 33 points behind the Reds last season. This led to a summer of lavish spending that saw us strengthen a number of key positions.

With a freshly armed squad at their disposal, Chelsea now face an early test of their title credentials when they face Liverpool on the 19th.

Kurt Zouma believes Chelsea can challenge Liverpool

Zouma believes new signing Timo Werner could make the difference in our efforts to challenge Liverpool for the title.

One of the best young strikers on the continent, the German ace gave a fine account of himself in our season opener at the Amex.

Making his competitive debut for the Blues, Werner used his pace and movement to constantly trouble the Brighton backline. He also won the penalty that led to Jorginho’s opener.

“He’s a top scorer. He’s been scoring goals for fun in the German league. That’s why he has come here, to show himself in the Premier League.”

We faced off against Liverpool four times last season. While we got the better of them in the FA Cup, Jurgen Klopp’s side prevailed in all of the other encounters.

Despite the Reds’ success last season, Zouma believes it will account for nothing this time around. With a fresh start comes new opportunity and the Frenchman is keen to see Chelsea seize it.

“Everybody starts from zero. We will see what we can do.”

The stage could be set for him to score his first competitive goal against the Merseysiders come Saturday. Zouma might be on the verge of being proven a prophet.
