“A great fit”- Former PL star believes Chelsea star would be the right fit for Newcastle

Stan Collymore: Mason Mount should join Newcastle United if he opts to leave Chelsea

Stan Collymore, a former Liverpool forward, advised Mason Mount to sign for Newcastle United if he decides to leave Chelsea in the summer. He believes Mount would work well in Eddie Howe’s style at St. James’ Park, especially as Mount hasn’t renewed his Chelsea contract yet.

The 24-year-old England international will be in the final year of his current deal in the summer since contract talks have stalled, (Transfermartk). The midfielder had hoped for a raise in pay similar to what Todd Boehly had provided to new recruits. So far, an agreement is yet to be found.

And now that Mount’s contract negotiations have stalled, Liverpool are being mentioned as a potential summer destination for him. Collymore believes he can join Howe’s squad, which has been outstanding this year and is now ranked fifth in the Premier League.

The former Liverpool man suggested that Newcastle would be the best option for the midfielder to choose if he were to leave Chelsea as he wrote to CaughtOffside (via Express.UK).

“He’s one of their own and has the potential to finish his career as a bit of a legend like John Terry and Frank Lampard, but, obviously, with 18 months left on his deal and no agreement to renew it yet, it is possible that he leaves in the summer.”

“I’ve already said I don’t think he will, but if the lad is seriously considering his future, a switch to Newcastle would be absolutely perfect for him.” “I wonder if Howe and the Magpies’ hierarchy feel the same way.”

Will Mount leave Chelsea in the summer?

And even though Mount is just 24 years old and has been with us for many years, we do not want to lose him for anything. Moreover, poor performance does not necessitate selling Mount.

Since being promoted to the senior squad, he has shown that he has much potential to become a Chelsea legend. Mount still has the prime years of his career to come and losing him is something Chelsea should avoid. There is time yet for him to turn his fortunes around.

Boehly now has two options if we decide to sell the midfielder: either we should find an alternative for him because losing him would be a major problem, or we should safely extend his contract. Either way, it will be unfathomable to sell him to a direct rival that could come to bite us in the future.
