Jamie Carragher believes Mykhaylo Mudryk can replicate Eden Hazard at Chelsea
Regardless of the fact that Chelsea struggled against Fulham and ended in a scoreless draw, Mykhaylo Mudryk has been compared to Eden Hazard.
Despite the 22-year-old respectable’s 45-minute cameo, Mudryk still appeared dangerous due to his speed and one-on-one play. Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher thinks his influence at Stamford Bridge will be comparable to that of their former Belgian hero.
Hazard had a remarkable seven-year stay with Chelsea, contributing to the club’s two Premier League championships while scoring 110 goals and registering 95 assists.
In an interview with Sky Sports following Chelsea’s 0-0 draw with Fulham (h/t Mirror.UK), Carragher discussed Mudryk’s performance, saying:
“That doesn’t bode well for defenders, I can assure you that. He was only on for about 20 minutes, or half an hour, at Anfield, but I mean, we always talk about players needing time to settle.”
“It was very Hazard-like, one of the greatest players we’ve seen in the Premier League and one of the best Chelsea players we’ve seen, Eden Hazard.” Picking the ball up in those positions, with that low centre of gravity.”
The Ukrainian player achieved the highest speed in the Premier League at 22.76 mph during Chelsea’s 0-0 tie with Liverpool. However, his performance against Fulham was decent at best and was subsequently replaced at halftime.
Although his performance against Liverpool was undoubtedly promising, he must continue to improve his game if he wants to be the next Hazard at Chelsea. He still has a long way to go at Stamford Bridge, so we shouldn’t put him on a pedestal just yet.
