Chelsea consider selling two summer signings at the end of the season

Chelsea could sell Marc Cucurella and Kalidou Koulibaly among others in the 2023 summer window

Marc Cucurella and Kalidou Koulibaly are two of the six major players that could leave Chelsea in the 2023 summer transfer window.

The revelations come on Sky Sports that the Blues are considering selling both defenders as neither player has proven themselves in the game. It represents a poor investment by a club that has been able to throw around money freely.

Todd Boehly’s side are ambitious and have crushed the transfer window of late. Enzo Fernandez is but the latest addition to a new-look Blues roster. Cucurella and Koulibaly are among six other players who could make way in the summer.

Cucurella joined from Brighton during Thomas Tuchel’s tenure for a fee of £60m in order to support injury-prone Ben Chilwell. But that hasn’t been the case as the left-back has not lived up to the value. Out of 18 Premier League games, the 24-year-old has only played only nine full matches.

Koulibaly, 31, who was acquired from Napoli for around £33 million as Antonio Rudiger’s replacement, has had a similar impression. The hopes were high, but the centre-back hasn’t put up a convincing performance.

He has started in 14 Premier League games, four fewer than his 38-year-old defensive partner Thiago Silva, who has proven trustworthy.

And it appears that neither has now impressed Todd Boehly, which could lead to their departure from Chelsea. Regardless, the season is long, and both players have enough games to make a difference and establish themselves as top contributors for Chelsea.
