Chelsea boss Graham Potter excited to work with new signing Benoit Badiashile
Chelsea manager Graham Potter, while speaking to media (h/t Football London) after his team’s defeat to Manchester City, spoke about his delight for new signing Benoit Badashile and how he is excited to work with the young talent.
Potter, who is going through a rough patch as Chelsea’s boss believes that the French U-21 defender has heaps of potential and can be a mainstay in the Chelsea side for years to come.
“Well he’s a young centre back that’s played a few games all ready. Physically really good, left-footed which is a profile we haven’t got so much, so he comes into the squad and we’re excited to work with him.”
Chelsea signed Benoit from AS Monaco on a £33.6 deal on mammoth seven-year contract and is tipped to be one of the most highly-rated talents across Europe.
Having already made 135 senior appearances for the Ligue 1 outfit, Badiashile, despite his young age, is expected to straight away provide competition to the first team for a place in the starting lineup.
Chelsea’s season has gone from bad to worse after the loss against Manchester City which sees us in tenth position and in terms of points, we are as close to the top four as we are to relegation.
It is definitely not a good sight for Potter or Todd Boehly who took over the reins this summer and see the team not performing up to the standards established by the club in the past.
However, the recent signings made such as of Badiashile resonate with a better future ahead and one could get a glimpse of what Boehly is trying to achieve. Hopefully, he can fare better than Kalidou Koulibaly and Wesley Fofana for us this season – the former not being in form and the latter suffering from injuries.
