Graham Potter reveals happiness for Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher
Speaking in an interview after Chelsea’s 2-1 win against Crystal Palace as quoted by popular Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea boss Graham Potter reveals that he feels happy for Blues midfielder Conor Gallagher who scored against Crystal Palace last night.
Potter’s first game in charge of the Blues ended 2-1 in favour of Chelsea thanks to goals from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Conor Gallagher. The academy graduate scored a stunning goal in the dying minutes to give the Blues a win.
Gallagher who spent last season out on loan at Crystal Palace returned to score an absolute screamer against his former team. It eventually meant that the Eagles lost the game as their former player helped Chelsea get the three crucial points.
The 22-year-old midfielder, after spending many seasons out on loan, is finally getting a chance to show what he is capable of at Stamford Bridge. Gallagher seemed to have the trust of Tuchel earlier and did no harm in impressing Potter for a starring role.
In seven games for the Blues this season, Gallagher has scored one goal across all competitions. If he gets more chances to impress and gets a starting role, there is no doubt that the 22-year-old midfielder’s numbers will only keep improving.
Speaking about the English midfielder’s impact, Potter admitted being happy with the impact Gallagher has been creating.
“We’re delighted for Conor Gallagher. Of course he has a lot of respect for Palace… but he is a Chelsea player, now”.
Gallagher finds himself in the fray of international selection. A good couple of months with Chelsea where he plays regular football week in and week out might just be what he needs to do to convince Gareth Southgate to take him to Qatar for the showpiece.
