PL club interested in signing Chelsea flop on loan this summer

Transfer News: Wolves are interested in taking Michy Batshuayi on loan from Chelsea this summer

According to Absolute Chelsea via Sky Sports on Twitter (h/t football.london), Wolverhampton Wanderers are interested in taking Michy Batshuayi on loan this summer.

Batshuayi joined Chelsea in 2016 from French side Marseille. The Belgian has failed to establish himself at Stamford Bridge and is seemingly not part of Thomas Tuchel’s plans.

The 28-year-old spent the last season in Turkey on loan at Besiktas JK. He enjoyed a decent season scoring 14 goals in 33 league appearances for the club but fans would still be unconvinced that he has what it takes to lead the line at Chelsea.

Bruno Lage’s side are said to be in advanced talks with the Blues. Should the move go through, this will be the sixth loan move for the Belgian. This clearly shows just how badly his time has gone at Chelsea during the years where he was expected to be at his peak performance.

Chelsea were inconsistent in front of the goal last season. The likes of Romelu Lukaku, Timo Werner and Kai Havertz failed to find the back of the net on numerous occasions. Having signed Raheem Sterling from Manchester City, the German coach will hope that the goal tally increases next season.

As for Batshuayi, he was never considered good enough for Chelsea. Loaned out time and again, he never really found the rhythm to succeed in one place. At 28, he does not have long left to prove his worth to Roberto Martinez and find his way back into the Belgium national team for the World Cup.

The Belgian’s contract is set to expire next summer and an extension seems unlikely – unless the club has other plans in mind. It will be wise for Chelsea to sell him now because otherwise, a loan move could see him leave for nothing next year. It is better to earn something from the player, rather than letting him leave for free.
