Transfer News: AC Milan still interested in signing Chelsea star Hakim Ziyech but on one condition
According to Calciomercato (h/t ESPN) AC Milan are still in the race to sign Chelsea star Hakim Ziyech but on one condition, which would be that it is a loan deal with an option to make the deal permanent.
After having already signed attacking playmaker Charles De Ketelaere from Club Brugge, the Serie-A champions are looking to strengthen their squad in other areas of the pitch. They remain keen to bring in a centre-back and a midfielder before the window closes.
Chelsea appear open to selling their player but prefers a deal which will see him move on permanently. The Moroccan has been underwhelming since arriving at Stamford Bridge from Ajax Amsterdam.
What does the future hold for Ziyech?
With the World Cup approaching, Ziyech would want to play more minutes that might not be offered to him at Stamford Bridge. Reports claim that he is willing to lower his salary to move elsewhere.
Ziyech’s transfer from Ajax was met with a lot of excitement as he was integral to the exciting Ajax team under Eric Ten Hag. A fee of around €40m for the player seemed justified at that time but the move has proven to be largely poor.
However, he has not been able to find the same level of form while playing for the Blues. In his two years at Stamford Bridge, he has made 83 appearances and contributed to a meagre return of 14 goals and 10 assists.

Clearly, Thomas Tuchel appears to have lost patience with the playmaker who has found it tough to adapt to the Premier League. The arrival of Raheem Sterling makes life difficult for the 29-year-old.
As things stand, Chelsea and AC Milan are at an impasse regarding the structure of the deal. It will be interesting to see where Ziyech ends up once the transfer window shuts.
