“More efficient” – Manchester United legend sets challenge for new Chelsea signing

Rio Ferdinand wants Chelsea star Raheem Sterling to be more efficient

Speaking in an interview on his Vibe with Five YouTube show as quoted by Football. London, former Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand wants new Chelsea signing Raheem Sterling to be more efficient and step up his level at Stamford Bridge.

Raheem Sterling has been one of the best players in the Premier League over the past few seasons. A prodigious talent who broke through at Liverpool truly reached stardom after making the move to Manchester City and playing for Pep Guardiola.

Chelsea managed to sign him this summer from the Manchester club and he is likely to become the spearhead of Thomas Tuchel’s attack. Although his performances sometimes receive criticism, Sterling is a truly special player who can influence games on his own.

Sterling joined Man City in 2015 and has since then gone on to spend seven glorious seasons with the club. He has some memorable performances in a City shirt but it looks like it is not time for him to take up a new challenge in his career.

At his best, there is absolutely no doubt that Raheem Sterling can be one of Thomas Tuchel’s most important players and be the difference maker for Chelsea. He has the potential to be the goalscorer that the Blues are so desperate for and solve their striker issues.

Speaking about the same, Rio Ferdinand set a challenge for the English international to be more clinical and assume leadership of the attack

“He’s going to have to be more efficient this year if he’s going to put the same numbers up because he’s not going to have as many chances. I’m looking forward to seeing him do well.”

Having seen the talented winger in the English top-flight for so long now, it is easy to forget that Sterling is still just 27 years old. He became a first-team regular at Liverpool at just 17 and he is at the stage of his career which are usually considered the prime years for a footballer.

It remains to be seen how Tuchel plans on using Raheem Sterling. Although he is best out on the wing when he can take on his man with his dribbling, the Englishman is no stranger to being played as an out-and-out striker with Pep using him in that role in the past.
