Transfer News: Chelsea are interested in signing Torino defender Gleison Bremer
According to transfer news on Football365 (h/t Football.London), Chelsea have joined the hunt for Brazilian defender Gleison Bremer.
Gleison Bremer has made a name for himself in Serie A. The 24-year-old centre-back has proven rock-solid in the defence and has helped his team hold their fortress in some crucial games. The former Atlético-MG defender has made 16 appearances in the Italian top division this season.
Bremer’s contract is set to end in the following summer. With no development of a renewal deal, it seems the Brazilian is ready to take his career to the next level. Furthermore, if he decides to leave Torino in the following summer, he wouldn’t need to break a sweat to find a new home.
It is believed that AC Milan, Liverpool, Tottenham and West Ham United are all interested in the player. The most recent heavyweights to join the race for his signature are Chelsea.
The Blues’ defensive problems with regards to expiring contracts is no secret. Four of the Blues’ central defenders would be free agents at the end of the season if they fail to sign a renewal.
One name that sticks out is that of Antonio Rudiger. The recent development suggests that the German defender is more out than in. The representatives of the former Roma man haven’t reached an agreement over the desired wage package, and that’s why the talks have reached dead ends several times.
On the other hand, Andreas Christensen has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge. Another name on the list is that of club captain, Cesar Azpilicueta.

The Blues could be without their key defenders in the next season if they fail to tie these players to a new deal. Inevitably, the need for a new defender could arise, and Bremer could fill that position.
He is still young and could lead our backline for several years. We lost Fikayo Tomori and Marc Guehi in the summer as well, so it’s not like we are overflowing with depth at the back. But to land the Torino sensation, we must be quick and decisive, and waste no time in making our intentions clear to the concerned parties if we don’t want to lose him to the other interested clubs.
