Chelsea keen to trump PL rivals to impressive 21-year-old continental star this January

Chelsea plotting to beat Premier League rivals to Aurelien Tchouameni in the January transfer window

According to TeamTalk (h/t Football.London), Chelsea have prepared a plan to sign the highly wanted AS Monaco midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni in January. Several Premier League clubs are also said to be interested in him for a potential move.

The defensive midfielder has played in 20 matches so far this season and has scored two goals in the process. He has become a regular for the Ligue 1 side because of his excellent displays and has attracted interest from other clubs as a result.

The 21-year-old was eyed by the Blues in the summer transfer window but opted to sign Saul Niguez instead. He is interested in a move to England, but the league leaders will have to deal with fellow PL clubs who have heavily scouted him.

Liverpool and Manchester United are the two clubs who are interested in his services to bolster their squad. However, Thomas Tuchel’s side have planned to put in a bid for him in January, but the move will come to effect only at the end of the season.

This would give multiple advantages to the Champions League holders as Monaco would not lose the Frenchman during the season. It would also prevent paying a higher sum in the future as his market value is bound to rise if he keeps up his performances.

There is an abundance of options in midfield for Tuchel, and it would be interesting to see how things pan out should he be signed. Fringe players like Niguez and Ross Barkley may be considered dispensable to make space for the Monaco midfielder.
