27-year-old Chelsea defender reveals reason and aim for going out on loan this season

Chelsea loanee Baba Rahman gives his reasons for choosing Reading and what he aims to achieve from it

Speaking to BerkshireLive, Chelsea loanee Baba Rahman reveals the reasons and the goals for choosing Reading as his loan destination. He had joined the Championship club for a year-long deal back in the summer.

Rahman left Augsburg in 2015 and joined the Blues for a fee of £22m but could not make a mark. He has made a difference at Madejski Stadium so far this season and, the loan deal already looks to be a success.

The 27-year-old had it tough at Stamford Bridge which is evident from his loan deals to five different clubs in six years. However, he still maintains an optimistic viewpoint that he can make it in the top flight.

“When the opportunity came I spoke to the manager and he told me how the team would shape up and play. And I was like, this is what I want, this is something I have to add to my game.”

He expressed his desire to make it in the Premier League, which is why he chose the Royals as his destination. He also believes that if he continues to perform well, he could eventually reach that objective.

“Yes for me, [it was] the main reason why I had to stay in England, so it’s going to happen if I perform well here…to get myself back in the Premier League.”
