Chelsea facing a conundrum as European giants ready bumper offer for Blues’ defensive ace

Chelsea facing Antonio Rudiger issue as Bayern Munich ready bumper new offer

According to Bild (h/t Daily Mail Online), Chelsea are in a conundrum as Antonio Rudiger is open to staying on one condition amidst Bayern Munich agreeing to meet his demands. He is currently in negotiations with Marina Granovskaia over a contract renewal.

Rudiger has played a big role under Thomas Tuchel after a difficult spell under Frank Lampard. He has turned his situation around and also helped the club to the UEFA Champions League title last season. His displays have also lent a hand in the club’s success in the Premier League this season.

The 28-year-old will see his contract with the Blues come to an end in the summer of 2022. Meaning he will be able to walk away on a free at the end of the season. He is also free to agree to a pre-contract agreement with other clubs in January should he decide to leave.

The German wants to stay at Stamford Bridge but has demanded a £10million salary package for an extension. He currently earns half of the demanded salary and is behind the likes of Cesar Azpilicueta and Ben Chilwell in the wage bill.

Bayern have agreed to meet his terms after they contacted Rudiger’s agent and brother Sahr Senesie. This could deal a blow to the Premier League leaders as they are yet to reach common ground with the player on a new deal.

European giants like Real Madrid, Juventus, Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain are also interested in getting his services. The veteran defender is not short of options should he decide to move on.

Having conceded only four times in the league, the English club also have the best defence with 11 matches played so far. Looking at Rudiger’s impact, losing him could leave an unfillable gap in the Blues backline.
