Norwich boss Daniel Farke explains the situation surrounding Chelsea loanee Billy Gilmour and his recent lack of playing time
Speaking at a press conference (h/t Metro), Norwich City coach Daniel Farke has explained the reason for the absence of Chelsea loanee Billy Gilmour from his recent line-ups. He then went on to praise the youngster by labelling him a ‘baller’.
The Canaries have had a tough time since their return to the top flight as they are dead last in the Premier League. With zero wins in eight games, Gilmour has been one of the few reasons for cheer for the Norwich fans.
The 20-year-old moved to Carrow Road Stadium as a loanee hoping to get more consistent game time. But his current boss has said that he needs to manage the teenager’s minutes properly.
“Yes, he was not in the Burnley or Everton games. But to be honest, he had a difficult pre-season. He came late due to this Covid situation and the Euros.”
What next for Gilmour?
Farke then goes on to say how the Chelsea loanee played the most minutes out of any midfielders. He then followed it by giving his reasons for not giving him minutes in specific matches.
“The first time he was out was against Arsenal because he had played three games for his country. I also have to look after this guy because he’s coming from a situation last season where he has never started for his national team and hardly started for Chelsea.”

Norwich played Brighton and Hove Albion today at home in a 0-0 draw which saw them hold on against the fourth place holder. It is interesting to note that the Scotland international missed out on getting some minutes yet again.
The Blues would be hoping that things would not get worse and Gilmour will have a favourable environment to grow.
