Report: Tuchel on collision course with Chelsea board regarding 28-year-old star’s future at the club

Transfer News: Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel desperate to keep Antonio Rudiger at the club

According to The Express, Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel is intent to keep Antonio Rudiger at the club beyond next summer.

The 28-year-old is in the final months of his contract at Chelsea. Rudiger has emerged as a key member of the team under Tuchel and it is clear to see why the German is keen to keep his defensive ace.

As things stand Rudiger is yet to reach an agreement with the club. While there have been negotiations between both sides, Chelsea’s offer falls well short of Rudiger’s wage demands.

Rudiger is vital for Chelsea.

While Chelsea struggle to tie down their defensive star, he has also been attracting attention from across the channel in Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid.

The Spanish giants lost both Raphael Varane and Sergio Ramos to Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain earlier in the summer. Having already landed David Alaba, they could add to their defence should they land Rudiger on a free next summer.

Real chose to pay Alaba a king’s ransom to sign him. A task that was made easier given his availability in the Bosman market. Given that Rudiger too appears to be heading down the same road, it remains to be seen if a repeat is on the cards.

According to the report, Tuchel is ready to fight for his defender and could risk going to war with the Chelsea board for him. The Chelsea boss appears ready to do his best to ensure Rydiger continues his stay at the club.

It is never easy for a manager to lose a trusted member of his squad. Just how far Tuchel is willing to push his luck for Ryudiger’s sake remains to be seen.
