Transfer News: Liverpool are eyeing a deal for Chelsea ace Callum Hudson-Odoi
According to Calcio Mercato (h/t The Express), Liverpool are weighing up a move for Chelsea fringe star Callum Hudson-Odoi this summer.
The Englishman, who hardly featured under Frank Lampard last season, found a glimmer of hope under Thomas Tuchel after the German boss fielded the youngster during the start of his tenure at the West London club.
However, Hudson-Odoi has fallen down the pecking order again and has only made 1 Premier League start this season. Although he also started the UEFA Super Cup final earlier this summer, consistent game-time has been hard to come by for the 20-year-old.
In fact, the English international was also on the precipice of a loan move to Borussia Dortmund during the summer transfer window, but Thomas Tuchel blocked the move saying it was ‘impossible’ to let the player go.
However, rivals Liverpool are now trying to orchestrate a deal for the winger in January itself. The Reds lost the services of Xherdan Shaqiri this summer and could add to their existing attacking options.
The Anfield outfit were also linked with the 20-year-old this summer while they also apparently held talks with Hudson Odoi’s representatives two and a half years ago when the youngster first broke out on the scene.

While Jurgen Klopp might want the winger, it remains to be seen if the Blues would strengthen a Top 4 or title rival by giving them one of their best young prospects. The Englishman has featured on the right-wing back role for Tuchel and provides a lot of competition to the likes of Reece James and Cesar Azpilicueta.
With the Blues set to play in nearly 5 competitions this season, including the Club World Cup, squad depth is essential, and Tuchel will need all of his players, including Hudson-Odoi if he hopes to compete on all fronts.
