Chelsea not planning swap deal involving Timo Werner and Leroy Sane
According to a tweet put out by Absolute Chelsea via Plettigoal (h/t football.london), Chelsea are not planning on orchestrating a deal involving Timo Werner and Leroy Sane.
The German duo were touted for a swap deal that would have seen Werner go to Bayern Munich and Sane join the West London club. However, it does not look like this deal was never in the works.
Werner, who has been said to be in ‘regular’ contact with new Bayern boss Julian Nagelsmann, has suffered for game-time at the London club this season. Although Werner started in the UEFA Super Cup final against Villarreal and in the season opener against Crystal Palace, the 25-year-old is yet to start a game for the club since then.
The German striker was, however, brought on as a substitute against both Arsenal and Aston Villa. The striker joined the club last season under the stewardship of Frank Lampard but failed to produce a healthy goal return for the English manager.
While things seemed to take a turn when Thomas Tuchel arrived at the club in January, the 25-year-old could not find the back of the net on a consistent basis. The Blues then went on to sign Romelu Lukaku this summer for a club-record deal of £97.5million.
Given that the Belgian has started the season in good form and Chelsea’s depth in the winger role, Tuchel has not been able to provide the German with consistent game-time.

Sane, on the other hand, has fallen down the pecking order at the Bundesliga club and was linked with a move to the West London club.
However, given that the rumours have now been rubbished away, it looks like both players will be staying at their respective clubs.
