Andreas Christensen set to sign new contract at Chelsea
According to a tweet put out by Absolute Chelsea via Goal (h/t football.london), Andreas Christensen is set to sign a new contract at Chelsea this month.
The Danish defender is a product of the Cobham academy but did not immediately settle into the first team. The centre-back had to be sent out on loan to Borussia Monchengladbach, where he eventually developed as a first-team player.
The Blues recalled the defender in the 2017/18 season during Antonio Conte’s last term at the club. Although the 25-year-old featured every now and then under every manager after the Italian, he seems to be cementing a place under Thomas Tuchel.
Since the German boss arrived at the club at the start of this year, Christensen has featured quite a bit and was an important part of the club’s Champions League triumph last season.
His performances also led to him being named in the Denmark squad for the Euros this summer as the centre-back helped his country reach the semi-final of the competition, where they eventually lost in extra time to England.
The Dane has carried his good form into the current season as well as he has featured in all but one of the 6 games played by the Blues until now.

The 25-year-old has also entered into the final year of his contract at Stamford Bridge, but it now looks like the defender is set to sign a new deal that will keep him at the club four a minimum of four years, according to the official Twitter account of Absolute Chelsea via Goal (h/t football.london).
This could prove to be an important extension for the West London club since both Thiago Silva and Antonio Rudiger will be out of contracts next season and are yet to sign new deals.
