Chelsea star Romelu Lukaku credits Timo Werner for his goal
According to the Metro, Chelsea star Romelu Lukaku praised Timo Werner for helping score his second goal. Lukaku scored once in each half to open and close Chelsea’s win over Aston Villa but did not forget to credit his fellow forward Werner for his part in the last goal.
Chelsea had a lot of players stepping up to win the game against Aston Villa. Right from Edouard Mendy’s saves to Lukaku’s finishes, the Blues fought as a unit to get those three points and climb to second in the table. There were obviously a lot of subplots to the game with Lukaku scoring his first goal at Stamford Bridge and Saul Niguez making his debut.
It was a hugely fulfilling moment when Lukaku finally scored in front of the home fans. This was a moment 10 years in the making as he smartly took Axel Tuanzebe out of the equation and scored the first. His second was a clever one and a lot of the praise will have to go to Werner who attracted both Tuanzebe and Ezri Konsa towards himself.
That allowed Lukaku to run free, receive the ball and launch it into the top corner. Lukaku acknowledged the same and gave credit where it belonged.
“I think I have to give a lot of credit for Timo because Timo created a lot of space for me. As soon as he created the space to run in behind the two defenders I had a lot of time, the touch was good and the finish was just clinical.”

Werner will get a good boost from these showings despite not getting the goals. His movement really allowed Lukaku a free run at the goal. It feels like Werner will get among the goals soon enough after these sort of impacts on the game.
