Chelsea could complete a deal for Jules Kounde soon
According to Diario de Sevilla (h/t The Express), Jules Kounde could move to Chelsea very soon, and it is only a ‘matter of time’ before an announcement is made for the same.
The French centre-back has been touted to a move to the West London club all summer as personal terms between the two parties have been agreed for weeks.
However, the Blues have hit a number of complications along the way. The Stamford Bridge outfit tried to include Kurt Zouma in a player plus cash deal initially but Zouma did not want to be a part of any such deal as he preferred a move within the Premier League.
Further, the emergence of Trevoh Chalobah in defence also put question marks regarding whether the Blues would pursue a deal for Kounde. Moreover, the Blues also prioritized the signing of Romelu Lukaku as they shelled out the big bucks for the Belgian.
However, a lot has changed since then. Zouma has completed a move away from Stamford Bridge as he joined London rivals West Ham United while Trevoh Chalobah might also be used in the midfield by Tuchel.
Thiago Silva is on the wrong side of 30 and has entered into the final year of his contract. Additionally, Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger are in the final year of their contracts as well.
Thus, the Blues have pushed for a move for Kounde this summer as they plan on adding reinforcements to their star-studded defence. The Frenchman has apparently ‘travelled’ to Paris as he waits to complete his £42million move to London.
