Tuchel issues update on the availability of two Chelsea stars ahead of key Arsenal clash

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel remains hopeful that Romelu Lukaku and N’Golo Kante will be available to face Arsenal

According to the club’s official site, Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel remains hopeful that Romelu Lukaku and N’Golo Kante will be available to face Arsenal this week.

Kante missed our win over Crystal Palace at the weekend due to injury. The German manager has now revealed that his star midfielder’s absence was merely precautionary. He now looks set to return for our trip to the Emirates this Sunday.

“I think N’Golo will be back in the middle of the week to hopefully be ready for Arsenal.”

Given the quality coursing through our squad, there was little reason to risk Kante against Palace. The Blues got the job done with minimal fuss and justified their manager’s decision. It is good to see the Blues boss manage his resource with astuteness and awareness.

Meanwhile, returning hero Romelu Lukaku could be set to make his second Blues debut in the same match. The Belgian international is currently in quarantine and is expected to return to training on Tuesday. This should give him time to get up to speed regarding match fitness and tactics.

“We expect Romelu to finish quarantine in time to be able to join team training on Tuesday, because Monday is our day off. So we will try to prepare him to play against Arsenal and hopefully he can be on the pitch.”

Lukaku returns to the Bridge after making a name for himself at Everton, Manchester United and Inter Milan. While the Belgian does have his shortcomings, he has proven himself to be a dependable scorer throughout the course of a season. An infallible scorer is exactly what Chelsea missed last season.

Tuchel, for his part, is sure of who his ace striker is and has made that clear. Arsenal could be just the first team to experience the 28-year-old’s brilliance.

“With the addition of Romelu. We get the number-one striker and we want to have him on the pitch. This is very clear.”
