Transfer News: Chelsea beaten by Man United in race for Ethan Ennis
According to transfer news from Stretty News (h/t Liverpool Echo), Manchester United are set to beat Chelsea to the signing of Liverpool starlet Ethan Ennis this summer.
A product of the Liverpool youth academy, Ennis broke into the club’s Under-18 setup during the 2020/21 campaign and made a solid impression, scoring five goals and setting up one more in eight appearances in all competitions.
However, the 16-year-old forward has turned down the scholarship deal that was offered by the Reds, and looks headed for the exit doors.
A post on the youngster’s social media account last month indicated that he could be on his way to Chelsea, as he posted an image from the club’s Cobham training base. However, that may have proven to be a false dawn, as the 16-year-old Ennis is instead bound for arch-rivals Manchester United according to latest reports. (h/t Liverpool Echo)
Chelsea has always been an attractive destination for young players with potential given the club’s success and the top-notch training facilities available.
Add to it, the recent trend of academy players like Mason Mount, Reece James, Callum Hudson-Odoi going on to make it big with the first-team, and the Blues become an attractive proposition for talented youth players.

Nonetheless, Ennis seems to have decided to choose a different path for himself, with a move to Manchester United now on the horizon, as per the aforementioned report.
There is good news for Chelsea on the youth team news front though, as teenage forward Armando Broja has recently signed a new long-term contract, committing his future to the club.a
