Chelsea accept £20m bid from London rivals for 21-year-old English talent

Transfer News: Chelsea agree to sell Marc Guehi as Crystal Palace offer is accepted

According to a report by Sky Sports, Chelsea and Crystal Palace are in agreement over the transfer move for highly-rated defender, Marc Guehi.

The 21-year-old Englishman came through the youth ranks at Chelsea and was at Swansea last season. Guehi featured heavily for the Welsh side in the Championship and was the subject of interest from Palace for a while.

The Eagles appointed Patrick Vieira as their new manager recently, and the former Arsenal midfielder was given the ‘green light‘ to get a move done for the Abidjan-born defender.

Guehi to Palace nearing completion

According to a report by The Evening Standard, the fee for Guehi could reach £20million. The Blues have also agreed on a sell-on clause and a right to match any future bids for the Englishman.

This is handy money for the Blues, who can put it to use towards any potential incomings. Guehi is also the second centre-back the club has sold this summer for a decent amount of money.

According to Sky Sports, AC Milan activated the £25million clause in Fikayo Tomori’s contract last month to make his loan deal permanent at San Siro. That’s two young defensive prospects potentially gone within the space of a month.

Signing a striker to compete with Timo Werner seems like the priority, but signing someone in defence would not hurt the club’s chances of silverware next season. With Thiago Silva turning 37 this year, Tuchel could do with signing a new centre-back.
