“I’m happy”: Euro 2020 star plays down exit rumours amid Chelsea links

Transfer News: Romelu Lukaku plays down Chelsea return

According to transfer news from Mirror, former Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku has downplayed a return to the Premier League amid links to Chelsea and Manchester City. The Belgian star made it clear that he is happy at Inter Milan. Lukaku has been linked with a return to Stamford Bridge in recent weeks.

A former Chelsea player, Lukaku spent three years at the club. He spent the second and third years of his Stamford Bridge career out on loan before leaving permanently for Everton in 2014. Nonetheless, he has managed to lift up his career to greater heights with his stint at Inter Milan.

Initially, Chelsea wanted to re-sign their former striker Romelu Lukaku. The Belgian is coming off the back of a splendid season at Inter, pushing them to the league title. However, there is also interest from other elite European sides, as well as Manchester City. (h/t Mirror)

When asked about making a move away from Inter Milan by Trevor Sinclair, the big Belgian, who is currently scoring for fun with the national team at the UEFA Euro 2020, claimed that he was happy at Inter. While Sinclair did not ask for Chelsea, in particular, Lukaku’s response does point to the fact that he will not likely leave the San Siro at this point.

Chelsea need a new striker and they will be making a mistake by not signing one ahead of the new season. Their defence has often bailed them out this season and Thomas Tuchel will be wary of that. Whether or not they can convince Lukaku to return, remains to be seen.
