According to transfer news from Mirror, PSG have opened talks with Chelsea target Sergio Ramos. The Parisians are looking to move ahead in the race for Ramos after contacting his representatives. Alongside Chelsea, Manchester United and AC Milan are also after Ramos.
Sergio Ramos will no longer be a Real Madrid player from July 1. The club officially confirmed that the captain would be leaving after a new contract could not be agreed upon. Farewells were bid as the 35-year old leaves the club after 16 trophy-laden seasons.
Ramos cleared the air regarding his exit. He claimed that he initially wanted a 2-year deal but the club only offered him one and with a pay cut. While he wanted to accept the one-year option later, he found out that it was no longer on the table.
With his future now up in the air, several clubs including Chelsea, PSG, Manchester United and AC Milan have been linked with a move for him. However, it might appear that PSG have stolen a march on their competitors by making contact with Ramos’ representatives. Initial discussions have been held over a possible deal as the player is also keen on a move to France.
For now, PSG have made the opening move for the veteran defender. Chelsea are still in with a chance but they will now have to move fast. While Ramos may not exactly be a long-term option for the club, he does represent a great short-term one. His leadership qualities could be something Chelsea can use.
