According to transfer news from Daily Star, Chelsea are planning a sale of 10 players in a bid to raise around £154m. Several first-team stars and fringe players could be let go as Chelsea plan ahead for the transfer window.
This will be the first transfer window that Thomas Tuchel will be overseeing at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea have a good squad at their disposal but if previous years are anything to go by, the club will need to bring in fresh faces while selling off some of the players they have.
The Blues have a big squad at this point, with several loanees set to return. Ahead of the summer transfer window, Chelsea have already put 10 names on the chopping block. Among the first team players, Hakim Ziyech, Marcos Alonso, Olivier Giroud and Tammy Abraham are expected to make way.
The abovementioned four names are likely to fetch the club around £88.6m. Fringe players like Emerson, Davide Zappcosta, Tiemoue Bakayoko, Danny Drinkwater, Michy Batshuayi and Ross Barkley could all be sold. Selling all of these 10 names could land Chelsea a handsome cash sum of £154.3m.
The summer will likely see a host of players leave the club. However, Chelsea will need to think carefully about who they don’t need and who they should keep for squad depth. A lot of those names are unlikely to be used by Tuchel and hence, are rightly being considered for sale. However, some of them should be kept so that we have enough depth in each position.
