Chelsea blow in pursuit of Bundesliga goal-machine as La Liga giants make him priority target

Transfer News: Blow for Chelsea as Real Madrid make Erling Haaland their priority signing

According to a report by Spanish outlet Marca (h/t football.london), Real Madrid boss, Carlo Ancelotti, is prepared to part ways with several players in order to raise funds for signing Chelsea transfer target, Erling Haaland.

The Borussia Dortmund striker is in electric form ever since he left RB Salzburg in January 2020. This season, he netted 41 goals in as many games for the German side, who just managed to sneak into the top 4.

His goal-scoring output for club and country has made the 20-year-old a wanted man in Europe. Several clubs across the continent, including Chelsea, are linked with a transfer for him. (h/t football.london)

But it seems like Real Madrid are now preparing to go all out for their target. The report mentions that players such as Luka Jovic, Dani Ceballos, and Raphael Varane could be sold in order to garner funds for the Norwegian hitman.

Haaland deal looks tough

Interestingly, Varane has also been linked with a switch to Stamford Bridge. The number 9 position is where Thomas Tuchel needs strengthening before next season.

The club did sign Timo Werner just last summer, but the German striker can use competition for starts. Tammy Abraham is seriously out of favour with Tuchel after not making matchday squads of both the FA Cup and UEFA Champions League final.

And Giroud could see himself struggle for minutes next, if he stays. In that regard, Haaland would have undoubtedly bolstered Chelsea’s attack to a massive extent.
