Transfer News: Chelsea setback in Alexander Isak pursuit
According to transfer news from Mirror, Chelsea have been handed a setback in their pursuit of Alexander Isak. Real Madrid have entered the race for Isak and have also initiated contact with his camp. Isak is represented by the same agency as Luka Modric.
The 21-year-old Isak came through the youth ranks at Swedish club AIK before moving to Borussia Dortmund in 2017. After a troubled stint in Germany, he was sent on a six-month loan to Willem II in January 2019, where he impressed, scoring 14 goals in just 18 games. Isak joined Real Sociedad in 2019 and the 21-year-old striker has impressed in his two seasons in Spain.
Chelsea have had their issues with strikers over the years. Their seemingly expensive outlays on those frontmen have often not yielded the desired result. Timo Werner is the latest addition to that list after fluffing his lines on a weekly basis at Chelsea.
Real Madrid join the chase for Isak
Due to that, Chelsea are closely keeping an eye on Isak. The Swede has come a long way, developing into one of the best emerging forwards. The youngster proved that he can step it up against the big boys when he managed to bother Spain and Slovakia’s centre-backs in a significant way in the UEFA Euro 2020.
However, they are now set to face competition for his signing. Real Madrid have made their interest known in the player and have also initiated contact with his representatives. Another advantage they seem to have is that Isak shares the same agency as Luka Modric.

This does not bode well as Los Blancos have now not only entered the race but also initiated contact. Chelsea are still in but they will have to make their move too. They cannot waste time as Isak is a gem of a player who can be a good addition to the side.
