Transfer News: Chelsea to miss out on Achraf Hakimi
According to transfer news from Daily Star, Chelsea are set to miss out on the signing of Achraf Hakimi. PSG are close to signing the player in a long-term deal. However, it is understood that Hakimi was not Chelsea’s first priority.
A youth product of Real Madrid, Hakimi made his senior debut in 2017. However, it was during his two-year loan stint with Borussia Dortmund that the Moroccan truly announced himself. The 22-year-old then sealed a permanent transfer to Inter Milan in the summer of 2020.
Having signed for the Italian giants, Hakimi went on to play a critical role. The Nerazzurri lifted their first Serie A crown in eleven years, guided by Antonio Conte. Despite their title success, Inter Milan are mired in financial difficulties and may be forced to cash in on their key players in the summer.
Hakimi to move to PSG
Chelsea had thus registered their interest in the Moroccan. However, it looks as if PSG have beaten them to the punch as they appear close to signing Hakimi. He will now sign a long-term deal with the French side. For Chelsea though, Hakimi was never their first priority. It was always Erling Haaland.

Hakimi would no doubt be a solid addition to Tuchel’s side. He is a natural wing-back, which would allow someone like Azpilicueta to play in central defence.
