Fernandinho sends warning to Chelsea ahead of Champions League final against Man City
According to Express, Manchester City midfielder Fernandinho has sent a warning to Chelsea ahead of the Champions League final. The Brazilian claimed that this was the best Man City side we will be facing as the Cityzens go for their first Champions League trophy win.
It has been a long journey for both clubs which will culminate in a Champions League final. Chelsea had to go through a managerial change mid-season. However, they emerged stronger and defeated the likes of Atletico and Real Madrid to reach the final. City were not given an easy hand as they made it to their first final after beating a strong PSG side.
Both sides are also coming off gruelling domestic campaigns. City finished as champions while Chelsea managed to claw their way to fourth place. As the final in Porto approaches, players have started taking shots at their opponents.
City midfielder Fernandinho sent a word of caution to Chelsea and Thomas Tuchel.
“There was still that stigma of the fact that the team had never made it to the final before, that we were an inexperienced team in this competition. But I think this season our team has managed to reach a high standard, both on a technical level and in terms of experience, and several other factors as well.
“Over the course of the season, we’ve overcome many difficulties, and now we’ve reached a standard which is perhaps one of the highest this team has ever managed to reach. It’s a really happy moment, a huge honour, and there’s no doubt that it makes you even more motivated. We’ve always got to give 100 per cent, 100 per cent of the time, and I think in a game like this anything less than 200 per cent won’t be enough to win it.”
