According to Daily Mail, Frank Leboeuf has warned Chelsea about the signing of Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund. He feels that the high-profile signing could backfire spectacularly if Haaland cannot fit the dressing room.
The Norwegian hitman has taken Europe by storm with his goal-scoring exploits for RedBull Salzburg and Borussia Dortmund. In 49 outings for Dortmund, he has scored 49 goals. Chelsea have held an interest in the player for a while now and could look to move for him this summer.
While Chelsea did bring in Timo Werner this season, his faltering form has raised questions about whether he can make his mark at the club. Even Thomas Tuchel has admitted that Werner may not exactly fit the style of play at Chelsea.
With Werner still not looking well settled at the club and the need for a prolific goalscorer still evident, Haaland fits the bill. However, Chelsea icon Leboeuf feels that the club should tread with caution over this signing.
‘Haaland is a beast. Of course it would be a plus for Chelsea. But now you have to think financially and economically, and you also have to also think and make sure your dressing room is going to be following the coach.’
While Leboeuf does make a strong case but the fact is that Chelsea will very likely go all out for the 20-year-old if they feel that he could be let go by Dortmund. The blues have struggled for goals and Haaland is unsurprisingly viewed as a solution to that problem.
