Chelsea told when they can begin Erling Haaland negotiations
Journalist and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano wrote in his Benchwarmers.com blog (h/t Express) that Chelsea can only begin negotiations with transfer target Erling Haaland from May.
The Borussia Dortmund star has been in electric form since his transfer to the Bundesliga in January 2020. His performances have attracted the interest of several clubs, including Chelsea, Manchester United, Barcelona, and Real Madrid.
The 20-year-old is one of the best strikers in Europe at the moment and it is understandable why United and Chelsea are hot on his trail.
And Thomas Tuchel thinks that the former RB Salzburg forward is the key to Chelsea challenging for the Premier League title next season. Romano says that the relationship between Dortmund and Tuchel won’t be a problem.
Haaland will be a cracking transfer for Chelsea
It is the transfer valuation of the star striker that can be a hurdle in any potential deal. His release clause kicks in only in the summer of 2022 and clubs may have to fork out a massive sum to land him before that.
“There is no problem linked to the relationship between Thomas Tuchel and Borussia Dortmund. The real problem is the cost of the player; with Manchester City, Manchester United but also Real Madrid and Barcelona very interested.”
He clarified that the player’s agent, Mino Raiola, does not like to finalize his clients’ future until the very end of the season. And this is why Chelsea can only begin negotiations for Haaland from May 2021.
