A report by Football.london names West Ham United as a possible destination for Chelsea midfielder Billy Gilmour on loan.
The 19-year-old midfielder arrived at the scene for Chelsea in the 2019/20 season. He made 6 Premier League appearances during that campaign and impressed many with his performances.
However, an injury last year meant that he missed out on the start of the current season. A comeback from injury still meant that Scotsman was on the fringes of the first-team.
He is yet to start for the Blues this campaign in the league, and has made two substitute appearances in the competition. Amidst this, the Scotsman could garner useful experience out on a loan spell.
The current table position is a hinderance in this move. Chelsea do not want to want to strengthen a top-4 rival this season.
Moreover, the club just signed Jesse Lingard on loan from Manchester United for the rest of the season. This means that the vacant loan spot is filled up for them. (h/t Football.london)
There is no shortage of suitors for Gilmour, however. The midfielder has been recently linked with a loan to Premier League clubs like Aston Villa, Wolverhampton Wanderers, West Bromwich Albion, and Crystal Palace.
Gilmour was not even on the bench for Thomas Tuchel’s first game in charge of Chelsea.
The Blues would now be hoping to take all 3 points against Burnley on Saturday in a lunch-time kick-off.
