“I wanted many years” – Tuchel admits he badly wanted to work with this veteran Chelsea duo

Thomas Tuchel delighted to work alongside Chelsea star N’Golo Kante

According to Daily Mail, Thomas Tuchel finally has the opportunity to work with N’Golo Kante.

The German was keen on taking the 29-year-old to PSG during his time with the French giants. In a curious twist of fate, it is the manager who joins the player at Stamford Bridge.

“I wanted many years to have N’Golo Kante in my team and now I have him here, also Olivier Giroud.”

One of the best midfielders in world football, Kante is a pedigreed player who has been putting a high level of performances for years. Injuries had limited his impact under Frank Lampard, hopefully, Tuchel can coax out the best in him.

Kante is not the only player Tuchel is keen on working with. Fellow veterans Olivier Giroud and Cesar Azpilicueta are also players that excite Tuchel.

Both players started yesterday in Tuchel’s first match in charge. While the game ended in a disappointing 0-0 draw, there was much to be positive about.

“To find a guy like [Cesar] Azpilicueta in your office is simply amazing.”

Kante, Azpilicueta, and Giroud have all stepped up and delivered when called upon. The trio may not be getting any younger but they remain pivotal to Chelsea’s cause.

A tactical mastermind, Tuchel could yet squeeze the last bit of elite football out of them. Having watched them for so long, he would be keen to ensure he makes the most of the opportunity.
