Chelsea midfielder Danny Drinkwater in talks to join Turkish side Kasimpasa on loan
According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea star Danny Drinkwater is in talks to join Turkish side Kasimpasa on loan.
A key part of the Leicester side that won the Premier League in 2016, Drinkwater joined Chelsea in the summer of 2017. Unfortunately, he has failed to replicate the same form at Stamford Bridge.
Drinkwater has not made a first-team appearance for us since 2018. The club was keen to sell him in the summer but was unable to find any suitors.
At 30, Drinkwater still has a number of years left in him. He is keen to resurrect his career after failed loan spells at Aston Villa and Burnley.
The midfielder is currently training with the Under-23s and has garnered interest from the Bundesliga. Both Schalke and 1. FC Koln are interested in seeking his services.
Turkish side Kasimpasa, who are currently 14th in the Turkish Super Lig, are pushing to sign him in January. Talks are still at an early stage but could progress quickly given Chelsea’s willingness to trim their squad.
He has made four appearances this season, none of them for the first-team. Drinkwater also suffered the ignominy of being sent off for kicking out at a teenager in a PL2 fixture.
The midfielder cost Chelsea £35m just three years ago. It is fair to say he has been a colossal failure. To put things into perspective, he cost more than N’Golo Kante who has proven to be an invaluable member of the Chelsea squad.

Drinkwater’s fall from grace at Chelsea has been hard to watch. The sooner both sides part ways, the better.
While his move to Turkey is set to be a temporary one, a good showing could see more sides enter the fray to land him come summer.
