Declan Rice keen to return to Chelsea but there is a catch
According to The Mirror, Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano believes Chelsea are set to make a move for West Ham United star Declan Rice in the January transfer window.
The Blues have been consistently linked with a move for the player. It would not appear that the English international is also keen on moving to Stamford Bridge.
It would represent a triumphant return to North london for a player who was released by the club at the age of 14.
Despite his willingness to move, Rice will not look to force through a move. The 21-year-old has immense respect for West Ham and is keen to repay the trust they put in him.
Moreover, the Hammers are not keen on losing a key player midway through the season. This effectively rules out a move in the winter. Whether we are willing to rekindle interest next summer remains to be seen.
Waiting until the summer could see us come into direct competition for the player with Manchester United.
The Red Devils are also keeping tabs on the player due to Mino Raiola’s comments about Paul Pogba. (h/t The Express)
With Raiola admitting that Pogba won’t leave in January, it is likely that the summer will see us go head to head against them for Rice.
The Hammers star has played a key role in his side’s impressive start to the season. David Moyes’ team are currently just one point below us in the Premier League table.
