Eight ex-Chelsea stars selected as Mourinho picks all-time XI of players he has managed

Jose Mourinho picks eight former Chelsea players in his all-time XI

As reported by the Daily Mail, Jose Mourinho has selected as many as eight ex-Chelsea players, including current manager Frank Lampard, in the all-time XI of the players he has worked with.

Mourinho had two very successful stints with Chelsea, who first joined the club in 2004. It was under the Portuguese that the Blues enjoyed sustained success in the early 2000s as the Roman Abramovich era was ushered in.

After having left in 2007, Mourinho returned for a second stint in 2013 and enjoyed another trophy-laden stint before leaving in 2015. In all, the Portuguese won three Premier League titles, an FA Cup and three League Cups across his two stints at the club.

And in spite of having gone on to manage our rival clubs, Mourinho still regards some of the players he managed at Chelsea, the best he worked with.

Petr Cech was the cornerstone on which Chelsea’s title success was built under Jose and the manager has opted to go with him in goal. John Terry and William Gallas get the nod in defence, as does Ricardo Carvalho, who was one of Mou’s most trusted lieutenants. (h/t Daily Mail)

Current Chelsea boss Frank Lampard flourished under the Portuguese. And, even though the pair have been indulged in a war of words off the pitch recently, Mourinho picks him in his all-time XI, alongside another ex-Chelsea man Claude Makelele. (h/t Daily Mail)

Didier Drogba developed into one of the most lethal forwards in the game under Jose. So, it doesn’t come as a surprise to see him get the nod in the side. Eden Hazard is the final Chelsea player to feature in the lineup, and the only one from Jose’s second stint at the club. (h/t Daily Mail)
