Hakim Ziyech is keen to bring Andre Onana to Stamford Bridge
Bringing in Hakim Ziyech addressed a lack of creativity that was prevalent in the Chelsea midfield.
The Moroccan international has an eye for goal and can pick out passes with the greatest of ease. A serial creator, he now hopes to ‘assist’ Marina Granovskaia in shoring up a problematic position in the Chelsea squad.
According to the Daily Star, Ziyech will attempt to convince Granovskaia to sign his former Ajax Amsterdam teammate, Andre Onana.
The duo played together for four years for the Dutch giants. The Cameroonian is also keen to make a move after making a name for himself in the Dutch capital.
Chelsea are keen to replace Kepa Arrizabalaga, who has been underwhelming, to say the least. The Spaniard was replaced by Willy Caballero for three of Chelsea’s last four games of the domestic season. This also includes the final of the FA Cup.
Chelsea have been linked to a number of goalkeepers including Atletico Madrid’s Jan Oblak and Barcelona’s Marc-Andre Ter Stegen. The former will cost his weight in gold while Barcelona are not keen to sell the latter.
Onana is not only available but is also an economical option for us to consider. A proven player at the highest level, Onana played a key role in Ajax’s dream run to the UEFA Champions League semifinals in 2019.
He will cost Chelsea in the region of £26.9m. The Dutch giants look set to stick to their valuation. The same was confirmed by Ajax chief executive Edwin van der Sar.
A La Masia graduate, Onana has made 178 appearances for Ajax since moving from the Nou Camp in 2015. He has kept 74 clean sheets.

The Blues are also keeping tabs on United star Dean Henderson and Burnley keeper Nick Pope. If Onana does make the move to the Bridge, it should count as Ziyech’s first assist in Chelsea colours.
