Willian in talks to extend stay at Chelsea
According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea veteran Willian could yet extend his stay at the club beyond this summer.
The 31-year-old has only yesterday agreed to extend his stay at the club until the end of the season. A failure to do so would have seen him depart Chelsea on June 30.
It was confirmed by manager Frank Lampard that the club is indeed in talks with Willian over extending his stay at the Bridge.
“Yes we are still talking with the players and Willian in particular we are talking with him.”
The Brazilian has now spent seven seasons at Chelsea since joining the club in 2013. He has amassed 330 appearances while scoring 59 goals and 59 assists. (h/t Transfermarkt)
In spite of being in his 30s, he has shown his capability to be a match-winner for us. Few can forget his double in the 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur earlier this season.
The Blues have been busy stealing a march on their rivals ahead of the summer window. Having already signed the likes of Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner, Frank Lampard’s side can sport a different look next season.
As one of the seniors in the squad, Willian can offer both experience and guidance for what is a young squad. Interest in the Brazilian is high, with both Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur among his suitors. (h/t Daily Mail)
