Brendan Rodgers unconcerned over Chelsea interest in Ben Chilwell
According to Sky Sports, Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers is not worried about Chelsea’s interest in Ben Chilwell.
The 23-year-old has played a pivotal role as the Foxes look set to return to Europe’s top competition. Leicester are currently third, three points ahead of us.
The Blues have already signed Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner. If all goes well, Chilwell will become our third high-profile signing of the summer.
None of the speculations has worried Rodgers, who is relaxed about the situation.
“The club have got good experience of situations where bigger, the so-called bigger clubs come in.”
The Northern Irishman has hinted that Chelsea’s attention is a testament to the good work Leicester are doing in developing players. Given the improvement the players have shown, it is inevitable that bigger culbs would show interest.
“We don’t lose sleep worrying about it. We’re here to develop players and improve the standard of the team.”
The Foxes sold Harry Maguire last summer in a world-record deal. They have, if anything, done better without him.
Chilwell is a key target for Frank Lampard, who is keen to strengthen the left-back spot. With the futures of both Emerson Palmieri and Marcos Alonso up in the air, bringing in a replacement is necessary. (h/t Daily Star)
The 23-year-old has made 119 appearances for the Foxes and has contributed with 4 goals and 12 assists. Not only is he a solid defender, but is also excellent going forward.
The defender enjoyed an excellent restart. He scored his club’s only goal as the Foxes drew 1-1 with Watford over the weekend.
