Chelsea open talks with Juventus over Jorginho

According to the National (h/t Daily Mail), Chelsea is in talks with Juventus over the potential transfer of Jorginho.

Former Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri, who now leads Juventus, is keen to link up with the 28-year-old midfielder for the third time. He had earlier managed the player at Napoli before signing him at Chelsea.

According to the report, the Italian giants have discussed personal terms with the player’s representatives. He is expected to cost around £35million. The amount represents a significant loss for Chelsea, who paid £57million for him just two years ago.

The Italian international initially struggled to adapt to the Premier League before enjoying a new lease of life at the Bridge under Frank Lampard. One of Chelsea’s senior players, he has made 37 appearances this season.

His unspectacular first season at the Bridge was met by derision even by his own supporters. Jorginho believes the criticism was unfair. Rather than be cowed by it, he used it as motivation to get better and disprove his detractors.

Jorginho took the mature approach and chose to do his talking on the pitch. The Italian knew in his heart that the fans were wrong, and was motivated to do well. Time has proven him wise.

It becomes even more apparent considering Willian, Oliver Giroud and Pedro are all out of contract in the summer.
