Chelsea keen on Moussa Dembele with Lyon bracing themselves
Lyon are bracing themselves as offers for Houssem Aouar and Moussa Dembele are expected in the summer, according to L’Equipe (h/t Daily Mail).
Aouar and Dembele have been two of their most impressive players over the past two years, and Premier League clubs are keen on them. While Manchester City are keeping tabs on midfielder Aouar, Chelsea and Manchester United are interested in Dembele (h/t Daily Mail).
The 23-year-old joined Lyon after two seasons with Celtic and has 22 goals and two assists in the current campaign. He managed 15 league goals in his first season for the French side and it will be interesting to see what the summer holds for them.
England calling for Dembele?
The Frenchman has English experience after spending three seasons with Fulham before moving to Celtic.
The 23-year-old managed 15 goals in his final Championship season with the Cottagers and he should have no issues playing in English conditions should he make the switch.
Chelsea, for their part, do need more options up top with Olivier Giroud already 33. Dembele would provide competition to Tammy Abraham and we could play with two up top.
Frank Lampard could do with fresh faces in the team after not being able to spend at the start of the campaign.
Our transfer ban was lifted in the winter window, but that didn’t see any fresh faces join the team. Hakim Ziyech was signed from Ajax but the creative midfielder will only join at the start of the next campaign.
With Michy Batshuayi also struggling for goals and performances, Lampard needs to have options on the bench.
