Chelsea interested in summer move for Stoke City’s Nathan Collins

The Sun reports that Chelsea are interested in a summer move for teenage defender Nathan Collins.

Collins plies his trade at Championship side Stoke City and is an Ireland U21 international too. The Blues aren’t the only ones keeping an eye out for the 18-year-old defender.

Manchester United and Arsenal are also tracking Collins, however, we are said to be closest to making a move for the defender (h/t Sun).

German interest for Collins

The youngster was also a target for Werder Bremen at the start of the season, while United were keen on him too, according to the report. However, neither club made a serious move and Collins ended up signing a new deal with the Potters.

The 18-year-old is regarded as one of the brightest talents outside of the Premier League (h/t Sun), and it will be interesting to see if we make a move for him in the summer.

Frank Lampard has Andreas Christensen, Kurt Zouma, Antonio Rudiger and Fikayo Tomori to choose from for the heart of the defence.

However, it wouldn’t hurt to have another talented youngster providing cover for the quartet. Lampard has also put his trust in the younger players this season, and it makes sense for us to land Collins for the future.

The 18-year-old still has to work on his game as playing in the Premier League is different to the lower leagues.

Lampard didn’t sign any player in January. He did sign Hakim Ziyech for next season and it will be interesting to see the plans of the gaffer when the season resumes.

The coronavirus pandemic has suspended all football action in England and hopefully, we can resume it again once things become better.
