Chelsea enquire about Barcelona star Samuel Umtiti
According to Express, Chelsea have met with Barcelona star Samuel Umtiti’s agent as they plan to bring the player to Stamford Bridge.
The 26-year-old played a key role in France’s World Cup triumph in 2018. Injuries have played a key part in hampering his development at the Nou Camp.
Having already lost his spot to Clement Lenglet, he could be offered a way out with Barcelona keen to move him on.
According to Italian journalist Nicola Schira, the Catalans are keen on getting the player off their payroll.
Umtiti has made just 16 appearances this season. He has made just 31 appearances in the last two seasons. A far cry from the 40 appearances he made just two seasons ago.
Barcelona has placed a price tag of £44.5m. This will see them recoup double of what they paid for him in 2016.
Umtiti is a defender who has proven he can compete alongside the best in the business. His experience of playing at the highest level will be a boon for Chelsea.

If he can put his injury issues behind him, he will prove to be an excellent signing. Umtiti has made 31 appearances for the French national side. He is also capable of playing at left-back.
