Former Chelsea ace reckons Lampard needs more experienced players at Stamford Bridge

Jiri Jarosik reckons Lampard needs more experienced players at Chelsea

According to a report by The Metro, former Chelsea player Jiri Jarosik feels that Frank Lampard needs more experienced players at the club.

When Lampard was appointed as our permanent manager, we were hit with a two-window transfer ban that prevented him from signing new players last summer.

As a result, he ended up relying on the youth contingent and it did pay off handsomely. In fact, prior to the suspension of the season due to the coronavirus pandemic, we were placed 4th in the standings.

The likes of Tammy Abraham, Mason Mount, Fikayo Tomori, Reece James and Billy Gilmour have all excelled but Jarosik believes that we need to sign more experienced players (h/t The Metro).

The former Blues midfielder believes that the downside to having a very young team is the inconsistency that crops up. And he is not wrong. For example, Abraham’s displays dipped a tad towards the end of last year.

We did wrap up a deal for Hakim Ziyech, 27, who will join us officially in the summer. But in addition to that, perhaps Chelsea should pay heed to Jarosik’s words and make some more signings in the summer.

As of now, the season is expected to resume at the end of April but given the situation, it remains to be seen if the date is pushed further. If that happens, it will affect the summer transfer window as well.
