MONDAY started with rumours in the Daily Mirrorthat Alan Pardrew is chasing Daniel Sturridge, he sees the England U21 international as an ideal signing to put and end to his striker problem. Meanwhile in the same paper Salomon Kalou issued a statement telling Andre Villas-Boas that the squad is still strong, and does not need many additions. The Sunhighlighted that after six years, Blues fans will finally get to see Slobodan Rajkovic put on the team’s shirt when he heads to Malaysia with the squad – Unfortunately he’s still waiting for his work permit.

TUESDAYsaw reports in the Mirror that Manchester City had become favourites to sign Anderlecht’s teenage star Romelu Lukaku, better news appeared in same paper when they ran a story saying Chelsea are set to trump Arsenal and Juventus to the signing of Bayer Leverkusen’s Arturo Vidal. THURSDAYsaw more linked with Roma midfield player Daniele De Rossi, with rumours in the Mirror that both the Blues and Manchester City hope to sign the Italian international on a free at the end of next season.

FRIDAYsaw the news released in the the Independent that Chelsea were close to signing Barcelona defensive midfielder Oriol Romeu, and face a battle with Everton to sign Marseille midfielder Lucho Gonzalez.

On SUNDAYa.k.a today the Mirror reported that Arsenal are looking to beat the Blues to the signing of Lukaka and finally the Daily Starsaid that AVB and Roman were going back in for Luka Modric, but this time with £27m plus £10m rated Daniel Sturridge.
